Becoming A Coach
Head Coach must be approved by the club!
Assistant Coach must be approved by the Head Coach (the club can overrule this)!
*DO NOT email your USA Hockey number to the club. Complete the "Confirmed Coach Club Registration"!
USA Hockey Coaching Requirements
- Register as a member of USA Hockey. The cost is $52 plus any affiliate fees if applicable.
- Complete the background screening. The cost is $30, required every other year, and you cannot be added to a roster until it is completed.
- Complete the USA Hockey Safe Sport Training. This is FREE, required every year, and you cannot be added to a roster until it is completed.
- Complete the online age-specific module(s) for the age level of play you are coaching. The cost is $20 for the 6U/8U, and all others are $25. All modules only need to be completed once per age level. You cannot be added to a roster until it is completed.
- Complete the concussion training. This is FREE! After completion, upload the PDF completion certificate HERE (Please name your file with your last and first name. Do not email it to Lafayette Locomotive)!
Coaching Education Program Certification Clinic Requirements
(Must be completed before Dec. 15 of each season)
- Find, register and attend the required certification clinic. The cost is $65. You can only attend one clinic per season and all coaches must enter USA Hockey's Coaching Education Program at the 6U/8U clinic if coaching at the Learn To Play/Learn To Skate/6U/8U classification or Level 1 if they are coaching 10U classification and above. You can take clinics from June 15th-Dec. 15th each season.
